Using Split Core Current Sensors

Hey Guys!

Has anyone installed the CS-SP-50A-DC over a long run?

I am in the process of finishing a design and quote for a 75,000sq ft building that has power panels and equipment spread out everywhere. Was planning to use a BB With wifi and run wires from the sensors to the central panel.

Wondering if there was a concern with running wired that far and the voltage dropping and giving a mis-reading ? I could I guess check the amp reading at the equipment with an ammeter and see the reading from the sensor that shows up at the controller for accuracy?

Anyone have any eperience? Wire runs may be 100’ or so and I typically use 18G wire to extend sensors.

The output is indeed a weak signal, low impedance output would be the technical term. However the input of the T3-BB is fairily high impedance, on the order of 10k ohms, so the CS will be able to generate its signal with no voltage droop.

If you ahve a lot of IO far away from the main control cabinet consider adding a Tstat10 or T3-OEM at the far end of the building, these have the same general pupose IO that the T3-BB has. From there you would wire to the T3-BB over RS485, it will save you some cabling costs compared to separate long runs for each IO at the other end of the building.
