My T3-BB controller suddenly failed several hours ago. I was in the middle of some remote programming at the time
Attached photos show what I have:
Power light is on
Beat light is flashing normally
No Input or Output (blue) indicators on
No traffic in Ethernet or RS485 Sub
local LCD display shows normal content.
All outputs appear to have defaulted ON.
Is this controller recoverable? It is obviously not completely dead.
(I have ordered a replacement)
Photos of internals were taken about a year ago but show exact model etc
Turns out I just needed to power-cycle the controller and it started working properly again.
So what happened to temporarily shut down all the comms & I/O??
There’s hardware watchdog which is supposed to kick in and reset the unit in the event of a lockup. Somehow that watchdog didnt trigger.
Update the firmware and your T3000 front end is about all that comes to mind.
If this happens again I’d try swapping the CPU module, the top & the bottom boards with known good units and see if the problem follows one component or the other.
Standing by to help out if it happens again.

I dont need to know the intimate details, but does the hardware watchdog monitor the (heart)beat signal? “Beat” was the one thing that kept going - so maybe the watchdog was fooled by that,
I will check and update soft/firm ware - I will be on site tomorrow.
It was tricky situation as I was programming remotely using RemotePC, so maybe it was my last “save” that went wrong and I lost contact.
The watchdog and the heartbeat LED are independent things.
The heartbeat tells us the CPU is working normally. Programs are probably running.
But your communications were locked up for some reason. If it happens again I’d concentrate on swapping hardware with known good parts.
