Tstat7 Basic configuration trouble

Hello, I bought 9 of the Tstat7 a year ago for my home build to have a thermostat in each room to control the actuators on the manifold for that room from the radiant heat system.

I am pretty sure that I have figured out the relay outputs and tying them to a FAN state. 1 or 2 to correspond to the input for that relay control.

I am having trouble trying to configure the thermostat to come on and off at given setpoints. I want to use the input from the keypad as the setpoint (I have the input configured as the internal sensor and in some cases Input 1). I am having trouble to have the thermostat come on at a setpoint for cooling at say 72 F degrees and stay on until it is at 70 deg F.

I seem to think I get it to work and then there is something that happens and can’t seem to get it to turn on again.

This would be a standard sequence for the Tstat7, single stage heating. Can I ask you do do a search for any Tstat8 example, the Tstat7 and 8 share the exact same configuration process. Most examples on this forum are for 2heat/2cool so your setup is simpler. I assume you have installed the T3000 software by now, theres a download link on the product page.

Thanks for the quick reply. I have everything installed and have been trying to figure out the settings for a week for at least 3 hours each night. These settings are not intuitive at all.

I went through the Tstat8 2 stage post and have more questions that answers., along with many other Tstat8 posts.

I have been trying to setup one of these to use on my buffer tank until I am able to understand and get the Tstat10 logic working, but for now sort of have the Tstat7 working for my Heat Pump with Buffer tank. It appears that the “Short Cycle” timer is not the ((value) x10) as it says, it is directly in minutes. (I change this and it has in internal timer that once the setpoint is satisfied, then the thermostat will not turn on again for that many minutes. Value= 5, then timer is 5min.) I can work with that.

Although what I would rather have and can’t seem to find a way to make this work is to have the system come on at the setpoint, then after it reaches say a 15deg F difference on the external temp sensor, then turn on the system (FAN or relay 1) again. Using the Cycle delay is a nice way to be sure the system is off at least 15 minutes between off event to the next start event.

So, for cooling

  1. Cooling mode, Relay 3 is always on
    1. PID table, make sure that Output3=ON for Coast and Cool1 & Cool2
  2. Satisfies Setpoint = 50 deg F (turn off Heat Pump)
    1. Cool1, Output1=OFF and Output3=ON
  3. Turn on Temp = 65 deg F (Buffer Tank warms to this temp, Heat Pump ON)
    1. Cool1, Output1=ON and Output3=ON

I am unsure what the Interlock Column does and how that affects what happens for the PID tables?

If the above is possible, what settings are needed to change to make this work?

The other scenario is the Room Thermostat to have it turn on and off to actuate the Radiant Manifold Acuators and Operate with a 2-3 degree band for off and on which could take 30-90 minutes to satisfy.

So, for cooling

  1. Cooling mode, Relays are actuated based on the Loops in that room.
  2. Satisfies Setpoint = 70 deg F (turn off Actuators in RoomX)
    1. Cool1, Output1 & 2 =OFF (Room A has Acuator 1 & 2)
  3. Turn on Temp = 72 deg F (Room warms to this temp, Actuators ON for loops in this room)
    1. Cool1, Output1 & 2 =ON

Is this possible to do with this Thermostat?

I tried all kinds of settings and the current program will not come on until above 60 deg F but will turn off at 58, but the COOL set point is 51 deg F. I can’t get more than a 3 deg separation between when the cooling starts and when cooling it won’t go below 58, but I need 51 where the setpoint is supposed to be.

Any suggestions?

The Tstat7 is overdue for an update, these configuration tables got increasingly complex as we tried to cover every scenario. Eventually we decided let’s just focus on the fully programmable Tstat10. If youy would like to swap with us we can arrange that.

That said, we can get you going on this application. Lijun will study the notes, thank you for the thorough writeup here. Looking at the above screen shots, I would get the basics going with no I term and no D term to get started. Once you have the basic staging working we can progress to adding I and D term and the short cycle timer.
